I really enjoyed the lesson on Wed about phonemes and morphemes. I feel like I really understand it. I was supposed to learn it last semester in anthropology, but no one understood it. Going over it again just made it really clear. That was a good way to teach it Mrs. White.

I also really enjoyed the lesson about phonemes and morphemes. I feel that this was very helpful because I feel that I need to understand what I am teaching to my highest ability in order to teach the students correctly. Everyone has potential and I truly believe this and the more i can understand will assist me in teaching everyone in ways they will understand.

As I reflect on MY instruction some of the things I will do differently Monday when I teach this lesson...

...I will have the groups will be smaller. Only need four letters per group, really.

...I will require each person to create a word family on their card and then share it with the group

....we will then move to the different cards to get four words and discuss WHAT parts of speech they came up with...we'll discuss how/if we can change those words in any way to change their meaning . . .leading to the discovery that by adding PARTS we add/change meaning...thus morphemes

...from that we'll then go to the prefixes and suffixes cards and create words and won't spend quite as much time coming up with so many different words.

I agree with your posting...I too found that the class instruction to be extremely eye opening.

I also enjoyed the class about phonemes and morphemes, but I think I enjoyed it for a different reason. At first I was very confused with the lesson, but after thinking about it I think I know why. I don't recall ever learning to read or sound out words using this process. I had never even heard of phonemes and morphemes before, but eventually it did make sense and I am grateful that I have learned a new method that will benefit others in my future work.

The lesson helped me a lot. We covered almost the same material in my reading class a few days later and it was really helpful to already know what the professor was talking about.

I think the reason I enjoyed the lesson so much was because Mrs. White made learning it fun, almost like a game. I didn't even realize I had learned a new concept, because it was like a word game.
