Hello!
Hi everyone, my name is Heather Witt and I am a Sophmore pursuing a degree in LBD to teach middle school kids with an emphasis in social studies. I have had experience in the classroom through observations, mentoring and working with my mother who is also a special education teacher. I also work with the 21st Cetnury Program, which is an after school and summer prgram that allows children a safe place to hang out with friends and get help with their studies, at the High School I graduated from. This is my second special education class and I am looking forward to it.

I will be using some specific social studies examples this semester as we look at how language impacts the content areas. You're gaining valuable experience working with children in an afterschool program. It would be interesting for you to begin to look at what students might "struggle" with in doing homework and see what parts of it might connect to the language issues we discuss in this class.
