I know this may seem as a silly question but i wasn't positive and didn't want to number everything wrong then have to go back and change all my answers.
THANKS for the help!!
Language and communication is at the heart of society. Learning how to use language to communicate wants and have needs met can be a complex task for many children. Our course will explore how language develops and the intricate challenges many children face who experience a variety of physical, emotional and cognitive difficulties.

Yes, it should be counted as a separate utterance.
Thank you!
I was working on my project last night. This is a lot more involved than I had imagined. If anyone is doing the pragmatic one, under the checklist, does turn taking mean taking turns talking or turn taking at playing a game, or both? Also, when it says to section of the turns does that mean after each person talks or just the child and no matter how long the utterances are? If anyone could help I would appreciate it!
Leslie,
I'm going to go ahead and jump in . . .
Turn-taking is in conversation, allowing others to speak.
If you take out the sample I handed out in class last week and see how each person is listed with what they say. . . that is a turn.
When listening...type the child's name and then just type everything he says until he is finished. Then type the next speaker's name and everything they say. The next speaker and everything they say.
So, when you have finished transcribing your sample and have what each person says you have sectioned off all turns.
You may have one or more utterances in ONE TURN. It depends on how long the child talked before he let someone else take a TURN TALKING.
Feel free to bring whatever you have with you tonight and I'd be happy to listen to it or look at the first part of what you have transcribed.
Thank you that helps me out. I will bring what I have and let you see if I am on the right track tonight. I can't go out to eat afterwards, two teenagers at home by theirselves, enough said.
